The Return of the Interchangeable Needles - ADDI Rocket2 Squared

The idea of an ergonomic needle is appealing. I spend countless hours tossing the yarn and naturally this movement can lead to cramps and annoying muscle aches. When I’m caught in a storm of test knits I have no choice but to use dat voltaren, but it would be nice having some needles that could help some.

Some of us swear by CBD Creams while others may use fragrance free NSAIDS. But if we could somehow avoid this all together by using fancy ass needles that would be 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽.

This was the plan when I ordered the ADDI Rocket2 squared interchangeables. They looked fierce, sturdy as hell and they were marketed as ‘the ergonomic needle.’ In theory these needles should be the holy grail, but unfortunately they didn’t live up to my pumped-ness.

First off let’s begin with the interchangeable mechanism. Yes the click is specific to ADDI, but is it really worth it? For starters, it takes some time to get the hang of the novel mechanism so I recommend that you don’t use the cables for projects that involve lacework until you get the hang of it. Personally I had the cable dislodge multiple times, this is not something that is good if you have a shit ton of test knits that rely on accurate counts.

Second, the join is less than ideal. The needle is not flush with the cable join and this will tear all of that expensive yarn, if not make it fray. As far as the cable itself, it’s not my favorite. While it doesn’t feel cheap, I think that chiaogoo outranks Addi in this department, especially if you’re into using the magic loop.

I do want to point out that these needles are okay in certain areas. For example the weight of the needle is just right. The points are okay, they are not sharp but if you’re not careful they will most definitely stab you.

Honestly I think the only good thing about this set is that the case is well made…and this is the only area that it outranks all the others I have worked with (chiaogoo & hiya hiya).

But is it truly worth the extra bucks? Personally, I don’t  think so but on the bright side you were able to read about my struggle and hopefully I helped you make an educated decision. If you decide to continue with this purchase here's a link: ADDI
